During their residence in Eindhoven, the Netherlands and their travels around Europe, Michael and Rony have collected various kinds of objects along the way, which were then presented as a product-based-collection called “Things We Like” featured on an online platform since 2013. From small rubber erasers produced by historic Czech stationery brand, to the classic Dieter Rams’ Braun electric homeware that defines what is meant by ‘Good Design’, each of the objects, with little-known histories and stories behind, captures an episode in the collectors’ lives and their passion for manufactured objects.

Being a designer, a brand consultant and an artist, Alan Chan has been collecting a wide range of Objet d’art, including handicrafts, sculptures, antiques and all kinds of interesting objects over the past four decades of his creative career. These collections are sources of inspiration to his design philosophy, “Oriental Passion,  Western Harmony”.

A selection of objects from “Things We Like” and objects showing traditional wisdom and craftsmanship of the Orient from Alan’s collection are exhibited in this exhibition to build a dialogue between manufactured products from the West and traditional objects from the East, revealing culturally diversified inputs and outputs that inspire creative minds.
