To encourage the public to be inspired by Japanese design and aesthetics. Alan Chan, co-curator, teams up with Japan-based Hong Kong designer Henry Ho who also founded TOPAWARDS ASIA to present the ‘OISHII ART OISHII DESIGN’ exhibition, bringing in 100 exhibits of F&B related award-winning designs and packaging works from Japan. They both focus on the local perspectives as Hong Kong designers and the long-term professional insights from working with Japanese companies or the design community; the exhibition looks at the theme “Oishii” as yummy in Japanese and delves into the wide-reaching look and feel of experience in its broadest sense. All exhibits carry one of the following characteristics: cultural essence; design innovation; contemporary redesign on old brands.
‘Art is all about sharing. The spirit and vision of designers and artists worldwide will influence one another. The most impressive part about Japanese packaging is not only the graphic design or the packaging style itself but also the selection of materials for each details or components and the use of production skills. They even design the sensory experience in line with promoting the product according to its positioning. We look forward to this exhibition bringing new enthusiasm and inspiration to the Hong Kong market.’ said Alan Chan.
