Producing blockbusters such as Kung Fu Panda 3 together with America's DreamWorks Animation, the Sino-American animation studio Oriental Dreamworks appointed Alan Chan Design Company to design a new logo for its relaunch as “Pearl Studio” in 2018.

The Pearl Studio logo portrays the spirit of ancient philosophy from the East working in harmony with modern technique from the West. The hand cradles and offers a precious bright pearl, visualising the Chinese phrase “bright pearl in the palm” (掌上明珠). It symbolises Pearl Studio producing treasures in the Orient and sharing them with billions across the world. The execution of the hand in one dynamic single stroke is inspired by the golden era of American animation; it symbolises Pearl Studio’s original creation process from start to end; while the use of the halo, not only forming the “P” for Pearl, also celebrates harmony and completeness.
